Ideally situated in the heart of Chicago�s trendy Lincoln Park, on a quiet block of mostly owner-occupied homes with large mature trees, Centennial House is surprisingly convenient to all city attractions, major expressways and public transportation for easy access to both airports or downtown.
Built in 1891, Centennial House contains two complete self-contained vintage apartments, each recently updated to include all modern amenities, and then furnished with many 19th century European antiques and fine reproductions. Elizabeth's Place can sleep up to five guests, Alice's Annex can house up to eight, and Kristina's Room can accommodate two. Each apartment invites the business or leisure traveler to feel right at home, and all units may be combined for large groups. Please note that the building is strictly nonsmoking, although ashtrays may be provided on the porch or deck.
Elizabeths Place ~This spacious six-room apartment has been lovingly rehabbed with all its vintage details retained and top-of-the-line improvements added, then decorated with exceptional European antiques dating as early as 1830. The high-ceilinged living room boasts the original plaster ceiling medallion, embossed trim work, and unusual curved walls flanking large shuttered bay windows. The furnishings are charming 19th century Victorians selected for both their beauty and comfort. The large credenza holds a 27 TV, VCR and assorted videos and board games. An ornate multi-speed ceiling fan adds to the comfort.
Alices Annex is an incredibly spacious apartment, furnished with delightful 19th century American antiques and reproductions. For entertainment, a large TV, VCR, stereo system and in-wall speakers. With its private entrance, this apartment is an ideal home base for long-term visits
Kristinas Room
If you want something more economical and space is not important, I would suggest Kristina's Room,a private bedroom and private bathroom in our apartment. |

Both units are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, direct phone lines with two extensions, toiletries, hair dryers, ironing board and iron, CD and cassette players, VCRs—for which you may borrow from your hosts’ collection of 90 videos, and board games and playing cards.

Our rates vary depending on which apartment is selected, the time of year and the number of guests in your party. Please call for a surprisingly affordable quote.
All our stays include breakfast, local phone calls and street parking for your car. Weekly and monthly discounts are also available. Both apartments may be combined to accommodate a party of thirteen.
Chicago hotel tax of 12% is added to all of the rates.
To book your stay, please mail the completed reservation form along with a 50% deposit via a personal or business check on US funds, travelers’ check, or international money order made out to Frances Ramer.
Upon receipt of your deposit, we will send a confirmation and directions. The balance is payable upon arrival by cash, travelers or personal check. We accept all foreign currencies at the prevailing bank rate plus bank’s fee. Payment by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or bank transfer may also be arranged.
